At Temple Sutton, our school values aren’t just words on a poster, they're the heartbeat of everything we do. Courage, Respect, Empathy, Ambition, Tenacity, and Excellence aren’t just ‘nice ideas’; they shape how we learn, behave, and support one another every single day. From the classroom to the playground, these values guide our lessons, our decisions, and the way our whole community grows together.

Ambition
We believe that school should be a place where children can truly flourish, not just academically, but socially and emotionally too. That’s why we weave resilience into every lesson, champion a growth mindset, and encourage teamwork at every opportunity. You’ll notice it everywhere you look: pupils collaborating on projects, cheering each other on during challenges, or celebrating achievements big and small. It’s this combination of support and ambition that helps every child grow into a confident, independent learner.
Empathy
But our values aren’t just about what happens in the classroom. They come to life in the ways our pupils support each other. Take Playground Buddies, for example. These older children make sure younger pupils feel safe, included, and happy during breaktimes learning empathy and responsibility in a fun, practical way. Then there are our Reading Ambassadors, who share stories, run the library, and encourage everyone to develop a love of reading. These roles give pupils pride, purpose, and the chance to make a real difference in their school community.

Respect
Inclusion is another cornerstone of Temple Sutton life. We’re proud to have a strong SEND resource base, where children get the support they need to thrive. Our SEND pupils are fully integrated into mainstream classes, working alongside their peers and contributing to the community. At Temple Sutton, inclusion isn’t an add-on, it's part of who we are, every day.

Courage and Tenacity
And we don’t just learn indoors! Our outdoor spaces bring our values to life in exciting, hands-on ways. From a beautiful nature garden and pond, to an outdoor classroom, allotment, arena, expansive field, and 3G astro pitch, pupils have endless opportunities to explore, experiment, and take risks. Our Reception children have an inspiring outdoor area complete with a mud kitchen and climbing apparatus, perfect for problem-solving, teamwork, and growing in confidence. Here, children learn respect for nature, show courage when trying new challenges, and build ambition and tenacity as they plant, investigate, play, and compete.
We’re also incredibly excited about our National Lottery grant, which is helping us take our outdoor spaces to the next level. This project isn’t just for the school, it involves families and the wider community, giving everyone the chance to shape an environment that supports learning, wellbeing, and creativity for years to come. We can’t wait to see the amazing ways children and families get involved!
Excellence
Celebrating our pupils’ successes is just as important as supporting them to achieve. Every week, we hold celebration assemblies where children receive certificates for demonstrating our core values. Termly, we host special events where pupils are awarded books and certificates to recognise their efforts and successes. And then there’s our Stand-Out Star programme, where children meet members of the Senior Leadership Team to share their work or talk about actions that make them shine. Afterward, a postcard goes home to celebrate their achievement with their family. These celebrations don’t just reward effort, they reinforce the values that make our school such a special place.

Above all, Temple Sutton exists to inspire young people to create a better future. We want every child to have the experiences, knowledge, and opportunities they need to dream big and the confidence and skills to make those dreams a reality. Whether it’s through learning in the classroom, exploring our outdoor spaces, supporting a peer, or celebrating their own achievements, every pupil at Temple Sutton is encouraged to shine in their own way. Because here, at Temple Sutton, it’s not just about school, it’s about helping children create the best versions of themselves, today and for the future.
