We are excited to be exploring a potential merger, which would see Big Education join the Oasis family – uniting two organisations with strong track records in delivering exceptional education, rooted in community. Both organisations are values-led and committed to making a transformative difference in the communities we serve.
We believe this partnership has the potential to not only strengthen our innovative individual approaches to education, but also provide greater support for our staff and wider communities. For children learning within Big Education and Oasis schools, this would mean further access to extensive enrichment opportunities, including Oasis’ student leadership programmes, cultural and creative arts, sports, and award-winning mental health support. For staff, it would bring immediate access to the resources and expertise within Oasis’s 56 academies nationwide, and Big Education’s transformative staff leadership development – alongside new opportunities for further professional growth and collaboration.
Within this potential partnership is a promise to keep Big Education’s influential projects and programmes thriving within a new combined organisation. It would create further opportunities for schools across both Big Education and Oasis to connect, share ideas, and learn from each other – building a stronger network for our joining communities.
As we continue to navigate a thorough engagement process, we will work closely with our staff, families, and wider communities including partners, to ensure transparency and collaboration at every stage. Our shared goal is to deliver exceptional education and through our combined strength to unlock new opportunities for growth and excellence. We are excited about the potential of this partnership and look forward to shaping the future together.
This is an incredibly exciting opportunity to bring together two organisations united by a deep commitment to innovative education and community. By combining Oasis’ model of exceptional education at the heart of the community with Big Education’s transformative approaches, we have the ability to unleash the potential of thousands more students and set a new standard for what schools can achieve together. This collaboration provides an opportunity to influence practice across the sector, creating richer opportunities for students, empowering staff, and strengthening communities nationwide.
John Barneby, CEO of Oasis Community Learning
The vision for Big Education was always to work both ‘in’ the system and also ‘on’ the system and make change. This is an exciting strategic opportunity for us to secure our future as a centre of excellence in inclusive, expansive educational approaches, and to scale our work. Oasis’ values and mission align so closely with ours, and we know we will be able to ‘do more, better, together’. Working with humility, collaborating and sharing deeply, we have the potential to positively impact many more lives.
Liz Robinson, CEO of Big Education Trust
