What is Scamper Framework?

SCAMPER is a creative problem-solving technique designed to spark innovation by asking a series of seven questions. Each question prompts you to approach the problem from a different angle, helping you identify new solutions you might not have considered otherwise.

SCAMPER stands for Substitute, Combine, Adapt, Modify (Magnify & Minify), Put to Another Use, Eliminate, and Reverse. Here’s how it works: Substitute asks you to consider replacing elements of the problem with something different. Combine challenges you to merge ideas or concepts. Adaptation involves taking something from another context and applying it to your situation. Modification encourages you to change or enhance specific aspects of the problem. “Put to Another Use” prompts you to find a new purpose for something related to the problem. Elimination asks you to consider what could be removed entirely. Finally, Reverse encourages you to look at the problem from the opposite perspective. By systematically working through these questions, SCAMPER helps you break free from conventional thinking and unlock fresh possibilities for tackling challenges.
