Ardnashee School and College

State School

Approach overview

Our school vision:

  • Always stay curious and support our TRIBE.
  • We will advocate, support and champion our tribe to achieve, succeed and conquer throughout their lives.

At Ardnashee the staff team and other professionals are committed to working together to ensure that all learners get the very best provision and that families feel supported through their school journey.  Ardnashee is a large ‘strength based’ school which focuses on what the wonderful students can achieve, not what they can’t do, and celebrates their successes at every opportunity.

We are an inquiry based organisation and are constantly looking for new learning and new ways of improving education and engaging our learners.

Our staff, or our Tribe, work together in creative ways to make things better for our young people and to prepare them for life and the world outside of school.

Signature practices

  • Our Achieve, Succeed, Inspire model ensures we meet the needs of our students as whole human beings
  • Drumfit for a practical approach to teaching communication and maths
  • Forest School
  • Our in-house TV station Tribe TV outlines the total communication approach we offer our school community
  • Our daily Good Morning programme promotes emotional well being and supports self regulation, so students feel safe and ready to learn before accessing the daily timetable
  • The new school site offers a creative learning environment and a multi sensory learning programme with an immersive suite, rebound therapy room and hydro therapy pool
  • Staff engage in a number of inquiry projects to find the best learning solutions for our students

Why we joined the Next Big 10

We joined Rethinking Schools because we wanted to link with like minded school leaders and learn from each other about creative approaches to educating our learners.
Raymond McFeeters, Principal
We believe that traditional education methods restrict creativity and progression for the modern learner! Our vision is that practitioners and students should ‘ always stay curious’ and our teaching methods encourage creativity and curiosity.
