Temple Sutton Primary School

Nursery and primary school, age 0 to 11

Approach overview

We are a three form entry state school  with an autistic resource base, and part of the Learning in Harmony Trust.

The overarching purpose of education at Temple Sutton is to provide educational experiences and opportunities that inspire and enable students to create a better future.  We expect all students to live our core values in everything they do. Our core values are:

  • Courage: to be brave and prepared to take risks
  • Respect: to treat others the way we want to be treated.
  • Empathy: to understand and share how others are feeling.
  • Ambition: to set goals, take responsibility and aspire to do great things
  • Tenacity: to be resilient, persist with challenges and never give up.
  • Excellence: to strive to be the best you can be.

Our curriculum is designed to provide all learners with the knowledge, skills and attitudes they need to lead healthy, happy and fulfilled lives.  Reading is integral to this; we want all students to be competent readers, able to use reading as a powerful tool for learning.  Our curriculum also aims to encourage students to value diversity, challenge stereotypes and know what it means to be a responsible citizen.

Signature practices

  • Continuous provision in the early years with a strong focus on developing language and communication using the Shrec approach
  • Use of instructional teaching for writing using the Write Stuff approach
  • Conversation and debate based learning
  • Instructional coaching for staff development

Why we joined the Next Big 10

We are excited at the prospect of learning and discovering new ways to improve education. By having the opportunity to work with other like minded individuals, we believe we can provide our children with experiences that they deserve.
Ola Laniyan, Headteacher
I believe change starts with the sharing of good practices and there is always room for ‘even better if’. I wish to be the best teacher I can be and in an ever changing world, continuous and collaborative learning is vital for growth.
