What is the Big 8? 

The Big 8 is a powerful toolkit which enables education leaders to create a relational and highly focused work culture, with clarity around expectations, and space for innovation. Built on insights from psychology and client-centered coaching, the tools focus on how to empower individuals to think and act with autonomy by creating overall team coherence and psychological safety. The tools are practical and learnable – although we all find some of them easier than others!

 

What you will gain

  • Be able to support those around you to build trusting relationships, and raise self awareness, creating a positive team environment
  • Be able to agree ways of working and hold each other accountable for this
  • Confidence to give and receive feedback to enhance performance and strengthen team culture

What you will experience

  • An initial two days of immersive training, which includes learning the theory, research and how to put the Big 8 into practice
  • Termly online refresher workshops, with the wider Big 8 Practitioner Network
  • Access to a variety of resources to fuel your ongoing development, including a research paper, self-evaluation tool, reflective activities and demonstration videos
  • Becoming a certified Big 8 Practitioner, with a badge for your email signature, CV and social media
  • A 10% referral discount to encourage others to experience the Big 8

 

* 1 year membership of the Big 8 Practitioner Network included, which starts after your in person sessions (£195 per year thereafter – opt out at any time).

Meet the facilitator

Gina Cicerone

CEO, Fair Education Alliance

Gina is the CEO of the Fair Education Alliance, a coalition of nearly 300 member organisations from business, education and the third sectors who work together so that all children thrive, regardless of their socio-economic background. Prior to joining the FEA, Gina led the Teach First Innovation Unit, empowering social entrepreneurs to tackle educational inequality through training, funding and mentoring. Her expertise in this arena stems from her firsthand experience of starting and scaling Fundacion VASE, a social enterprise in Ecuador dedicated to international youth volunteering, her leadership at UnLtd, and her role on the Ashoka Venture Board.Gina has her Masters in International Development from the London School of Economics, through which she focussed on education, employment and entrepreneurship. Gina is also passionate about sustainability and the arts, serving as Chair of Trustees for the OVO Energy Foundation and Chair of Advisors for Como No, a Latin music producer and festival in London.Gina has collaborated with Big Education in multiple guises including as a participant on the first cohort of the Big Leadership Adventure, a facilitator of the Big 8 and a member of the Impact and Partnerships Committee.
