This course is for middle leaders starting out on their leadership journey. 

Session 1: The power of Connecting, Contracting and your own values when leading

Through this session you will gain a deeper understanding into the power of connection and contracting and how to use these tools for effective leadership. You will explore your own values and how to tap into this when leading and making decisions. 

Session 2: Effective teams and managing conflict

Through this session you will explore tools that enable teams to work effectively. This will include gaining a deeper understanding of the Thomas Kilman model and the ORJI tool which can be helpful when conflicts arise. 

Session 3: The importance of Feedback

Through this session you will think more deeply about the impact that feedback has had on you – both positively and negatively. We will explore tools to enable us to give feedback in the most effective way. 

Session 4: Delegating and prioritising

Through this session we will explore how you can use your time in the most effective way; the importance of building capacity; and how to delegate tasks.

Andi Silvain & Matt Morden

Big Education Trust School Heads

Andrea is a primary school teacher with 12 years of experience. Before teaching, she worked at the BBC and in theatre, which has enhanced her skills as an educator. As Deputy Head at School 21, she focused on wellbeing and school culture. Now head of School 360, Andrea continues to be passionate about the development of the whole child and social mobility. She enjoys developing others and being authentically engaged in her community.Matt joined Surrey Square Primary School in 2015 as Deputy Head Teacher and became Co-Headteacher in 2019. He believes schools should empower children to be confident and successful in life. Matt is currently working on rethinking primary assessment to focus on measuring more than just academics.
