“AI is now in our schools whether we have planned for it or not. Teachers are using it. Students are using it. Leaders are making decisions about it, often without the understanding or support they need. The question is no longer whether AI will shape education, but whether education will shape how AI is used. That is a profoundly different question, and it is one that demands action from all of us.
This is why The Big AI Project matters so much.
What Big Education has done here is something essential: it has put schools and trusts at the centre of the conversation. Not as passive recipients of technology, and not as cheerleaders or critics of AI, but as active, thoughtful agents working out what this technology means for their communities, their staff, and their young people. The Big AI Project is deliberately AI agnostic. It does not begin with the tools. It begins with the people. And that, in my experience, is the only starting point that leads to lasting, meaningful change.”
