A big thank you to all staff

there

At this very busy point in the year, I would like to take a moment to say a particular thank you to all of the staff across the organisation. In the face of some serious challenges in our communities and the wider education system (not least the serious funding issues), the teams are responding with moral purpose and positivity. Thank you for the part you play in that. For those of you that are off for half term next week, I wish you a really restful and restorative time.

Updates from our schools

This month, students at School 21 have been celebrating healthy and sustainable food. Our new herb garden, funded by a garden grant from School Food Matters, is flourishing in the school playground. Students from Year 8 recently used the herbs in their vegetable soup project as part of their lesson about the importance of consuming 5-a-day. Sharon Conrad, a Chef from School Food Matters, came to the school to deliver a wonderful workshop on the sustainability of fish and to teach students in Year 9 about international cuisine. Last week Year 2 made vegetable scones in their Project Based Learning – which were very much enjoyed at their year group picnic!

The Year 2 children at School 360 are organising an event on 14 June, 3.30 at School 360 for the London GROW Festival. They’ve been working hard in gardening sessions and doing indoor planting after school, with help from volunteers! Soon they will be planning the menu with the school’s cooking club, and some exciting family activities for the event.  It’s a wonderful opportunity to support the School 360 community and enjoy some delicious food! Everyone is invited, but you need a ticket so do sign up.

Having enjoyed another successful Night at The Museum in March, our attention turns to our STEAM projects that will be ready to exhibit in July. Our Junior Leadership Team (JLT) and choir recently attended the London Mayoral Assembly – hosted by London Citizens; it was a brilliant opportunity for the children to feel like part of a movement and see the power of democracy in real life. Our Year 4 and 5 classes recently enjoyed performing at the Southbank Centre as part of the Southwark Ukulele and Percussion festivals; it was great to see their hard work and dedication in action – a real treat for everyone involved! Look out for information about our Summer Festival on Wednesday 26th June – would love to have you all attend!
