AI is one of the most significant global developments of the century. It is going to have a profound impact on education, on our children, young people and families, and on our leaders and staff.
AI brings enormous potential which we believe should be harnessed. It also has considerable risks unless schools are equipped to understand and use it effectively.
With partners, we are designing a framework of principles for the effective use of AI, an online workshop for school leaders, a programme of AI CPD for teachers and an AI literacy curriculum for students. The curriculum will include a primary version for Year 5 and 6, as well as a secondary version for Years 7 to 9.
These resources will be shared nationally once designed.
We would like to know your views on AI so that we can design these resources to have the greatest impact. We invite school leaders and teachers to complete these 2 minute surveys to share your views. We’d also welcome responses from your students and parents. Help us to shape the future.
Develop and pilot a framework and professional development tools, for embedding AI Literacy in schools
The programme will consider the following aspects of AI Literacy:
The programme will pilot the curriculum with two identified groups of 10-11-year-olds and two groups of 11-14-year-olds, gathering baseline and impact data, and using this to refine later workshop sessions to produce a set of shareable lesson resources for schools to use.
